ABOUT

In 2005, husband and wife team Josh and Erin Guerrieri taught and coached in inner city Atlanta. They saw the need for quality fitness and tutoring programs for the students they served. The combination of these two programs—personal fitness training (Fit) and academic tutoring (Wit)—proved to be an effective combination for addressing a traditionally underserved student population.

While FitWit launched new programs for students, it also began molding its defining program, the adult fitness camp. These early fitness camps evolved into what is now the ground-breaking FitWit® training program devoted to variety, community, and measured progress for all fitness levels.

As FitWit grew, Josh and Erin aspired to remain true to their original vision of helping underserved students be healthy and successful. In 2008, with the help of friend and former teammate Ben Thoele, they created The FitWit Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation in Atlanta, Georgia.

Since 2008, The FitWit Foundation has served over 500 children and teens through our fitness, tutoring, and personal development programs. We’ve partnered with Zoo Atlanta, Atlanta Public Schools, and many local businesses to make it a community effort.

Our FitKids, FitTeens, and Leaders for Life program locations include M.H. Jackson High School, Decatur High School, Grady High School, Washington High School, The New Schools at Carver, East Atlanta Kids Club, The Study Hall, Warren/Holyfield Boys and Girls Club, and Samuel L. Jones Boys and Girls Club.

Our tutoring program locations include South Atlanta High School, The New Schools at Carver, Decatur High School, Renfroe Middle School, Glenwood Academy, as well as students from Turner Middle School, Crim High School, Coan Middle School, Jonesboro High School, Douglas High School, Kennedy Middle School, Brown Middle School, Harper-Archer Middle School, Long Middle School, Parks Middle School, and others.

Every participant in our fitness programs has improved his or her fitness ability. Our average improvement in fitness ability across all participants is 46%. That is just the beginning of what the kids gain. Through fitness, our kids earn a sense of self pride and confidence in their abilities, so that, whatever their station in life, they have the ability to set a goal and work hard to achieve it. This is the true value of our program for the community, members who work hard to achieve their goals.
